During the bid opening, the only proposal received came from Doll Layman Ltd. for $1,250,000 compared with the engineer's estimate of $820,000. "On the recommendation of Jason Little, Fayette County Engineer, we will rebid the project," Mr. Anderson moved; the motion was seconded by Mr. Garland and carried with Mr. Garland and Mr. Anderson voting aye and Mr. Fleak absent. The board made the rebid decision citing the disparity between the single bid and the engineer's estimate.
The rebid means the county will reopen procurement for the dewatering building portion of the Rattlesnake Water System improvements rather than award the current lone bid. The county did not authorize an award or change order at the July 20 meeting; no construction contract was executed.
