Committee reviews truck-parking study draft; staff to pull analytics and model ordinances

Members heard a presentation summarizing a truck-parking peer exchange and an in-progress study of truck parking across the Commonwealth. The presenter said the county’s ordinance quality score for truck parking was zero and that the study’s count of truck-parking spaces in-county was “just under 8,000,” a figure that includes private and public parking areas.
Staff said they will ask the study team to pull origin–destination and parking analytics data for key corridors (I‑95, Routes 207 and 301) and will review model ordinances from counties that scored highly. Committee discussion covered public–private partnerships, monetization strategies for formal truck-parking facilities, and the trade-offs of dedicating land to parking. The committee later approved a procedural motion to defer a local committee-led parking study and instead bring the state study results to the Board for consideration.
