County reviews vacation request for a driveway/right-of-way after neighbors raise access concerns

Scott, the presenter for the item, said only one lot in the area has been developed and that neighbors raised concerns about losing pedestrian access around the drainage area if the county vacates the ROW.
"The right of way is very wide in this area and essentially has been developed as a roadway on the north side...in the middle is a large drainage way," Scott said while describing the site’s physical layout and neighbor concerns. Lynn (staff) suggested potential clarifying language in the vacation agreement to delineate where people can access the area and what will remain private property. Commissioners were told MAPC recommended approval but that additional discussion on precise access limits and mail-delivery logistics will continue before any final action.
The item will move to new business for fuller consideration and staff said they expect further discussion at the next meeting.
