Commission proposes clearer rules for signs, home occupations and group-home definitions

Commissioners proposed multiple clarifications to the draft regulations affecting signs and home-based uses. In Section 6.11 they recommended removing a duplicative opening sentence, changing the table title term from "unaffiliated" to "use," and limiting applicability language to "all signs requiring a zoning permit." The Commission also proposed adding "commercial uses" as a defined term that references Table 4(A).
On home-based activities, members recommended removing the sentence in 7.6 that labels a "home business" a conditional use and instead move the language describing home occupations to subsection A where it more clearly belongs. Emily KloƯt was assigned to create a definition for the new term "group home" and to make related edits to Section 7.5 to ensure internal consistency.
