The West Stockbridge Vision Committee announced on June 9 that this year’s Zucchini Fest has been cancelled after organizers secured only 60 of the roughly 80 volunteers required to run the event. Joe Roy Jr said he will compile 20–30 years of vintage West Stockbridge photos to share with residents in lieu of the festival.
Committee members discussed a prior town meeting incident related to a requested secret ballot; Joe said the request by Wayne was denied after only four to five supporters out of 103 attendees and that the situation was handled according to moderation procedures. The cancellation was attributed to insufficient volunteer turnout rather than a change in community interest.
