During public comment, Donnette Smith read a petition and accused Town Clerk Lisa Vance Ayers of using Facebook to defame her and of posting responses to Smith's posts that Smith called inappropriate. Smith said she would pursue corrective action and described the conduct as a potential legal liability for the town.
Town Clerk Lisa Vance Ayers responded that she was correcting what she considered misinformation on social media and said she maintains both a personal and a Town Clerk Facebook page. Supervisor Gilbert J. Piaquadio urged that the meeting avoid prolonged back-and-forth and attempted to move the agenda forward.
