Village of Nassau hires and swears in part-time officer Michaela Snyder

The Village of Nassau board voted unanimously to hire Michaela Snyder as a part-time police officer at an hourly rate of $25.50, effective immediately. Trustee Guy Forte moved the resolution and Mayor Robert Valente announced the motion was seconded by Trustee Ryan Bush before the board approved it by voice vote.
Trustee Guy Forte introduced Snyder to the board, noting her prior service with the Cohoes Police Department and experience in behavioral and mental health work. “I will be recommending, bringing officer Snyder on … she’s currently an officer with the Cohoes Police Department,” Forte said during the discussion. After the vote, Mayor Valente administered the oath; Snyder repeated the pledge to uphold the U.S. and New York State constitutions and to discharge the duties of a Village of Nassau police officer.
Mayor Valente and other trustees briefed Snyder on onboarding paperwork and payroll timing; staff advised she would sign forms and that payroll changes would be implemented ahead of the next pay period. The motion and immediate oath mean Snyder may begin duties once administrative tasks are completed.
