Sewer board reports energy sales and a $96,000 NYSERDA incentive for co-generation unit

Eric Parker, the council’s Sewer Board liaison, reported several operational and financial items for the sewer plant. In September the plant generated 27,887 kWh that was sold back to National Grid under the co-generation program, and the facility received a $96,000 NYSERDA incentive payment for Cogen Unit #3 representing year nine of a ten-year program.
Parker said the board authorized repairs to the sludge building roof and to the generator for Cogen Unit #1 and reported that a new maintenance mechanic was hired so that personnel levels are currently filled despite short-term disabilities. He said health benefit plans were approved by the Teamsters Union and that the plant’s 2026 budget has been completed and will be formally voted at the December meeting.
The report indicates continued emphasis on energy recovery and maintenance investments at the plant; the council did not take separate action at the meeting on these sewer items.
