Melissa Turner Buen Buellen, the village clerk, told the board that animal control and code enforcement officers currently use personal phones and have been receiving harassing calls and texts.
—They've been getting harassed and get a lot of phone calls and text messages, and it's interfering,— the clerk said, recommending the village add two lines to the Verizon plan so officers would have dedicated village phones.
Trustee Ryan Busch moved to add the positions to the plan; Trustee Richard Elder seconded. The board voted in favor and the motion carried.
The clerk said the additional lines will roughly double the village phone bill and that the village will handle the administrative setup.
