Chair informed the board that CEPHP, the village's health-insurance provider, has filed a notice proposing a roughly 20 percent premium increase for 2025 and that a public comment period is available.
As Chair described the filing, the notice was postmarked in May 2025 and the comment window runs for 30 days from the notice date, with formal comments permitted to DFS (the Department of Financial Services) or directly to CEPHP. Chair said the comment period would begin about five business days after the postmark and that the board could submit comments on behalf of the village. "There's a public comment period ... You can contact us or DFS to ask for more information or to submit comments to DFS about the proposed rate changes," Chair said.
Board members agreed to coordinate with neighboring municipalities and to prepare a comment. One board member indicated a concern about the size of the increase as inconsistent with the village's permitted tax increase and budget pressures. Staff will attempt to coordinate a group comment with nearby communities.
