During the board's public-comment period, a resident described persistent trash and bulky items left on the sidewalk at 43 Elm Street and asked what the village could do to address the nuisance.
Resident (S2) said neighbors had seen cans and debris “on the sidewalk for a period of a week or more” and that some material looked like construction (C&D) waste, which they believed is not allowed. Neighbors and a staff member said prior notices and a citation had been issued but that the property owner continued to pile materials out front.
Staff member (S3) said the village has followed an enforcement process and that “Matt already did send a violation last week,” but residents said the homeowner remained noncompliant and even ignored taped notices on the door. Chair said formal enforcement beyond notices requires court action: “There is a ruling, but we have to go to court to enforce it.”
As short-term options, the board and staff suggested outreach and practical remedies: the village's curbside pickup program (a staff member said it is available for a $25 fee) and an upcoming community cleanup day in two weeks where residents can bring items for disposal. The board agreed to try reminders and outreach before pursuing further court steps.
