Robert Valente told trustees he signed the consulting, engineering and inspection agreement for the village sidewalk project after negotiating the price down to $835,000 from an earlier $935,000 figure. Valente said the contracting change leaves the project scope the same and that right‑of‑way work with state DOT is underway.
Board members discussed the sequencing of the work and noted that right‑of‑way and coordination issues could push construction out up to two years. Valente said DOT has begun marking and addressing catch basin and relief cuts and that trustees should expect further updates as engineering work progresses.
