Redfield adopts Spink County Hazard Mitigation Plan to qualify for federal mitigation funding

On Nov. 3, 2025 the Redfield City Council voted to adopt the Spink County Hazard Mitigation Plan, passing Resolution No. 2025-02 by roll call with all members voting "Yes." Finance Officer Adam L. Hansen read the resolution, which notes that an approved hazard mitigation plan is a prerequisite for receiving certain types of federal mitigation funding.
The resolution states the city participated in the countywide planning effort and that the recommended mitigation actions will help reduce potential losses from future natural hazard events. Council discussion was recorded and the motion to adopt was moved by Jessi Lewis and seconded by Amy Akin; the motion carried on a unanimous roll-call vote.
