Residents press Trappe council on temporary signs, sidewalk repairs and nuisance dogs

During the Oct. 1 public-comment period, Wayne Windsor told the council about temporary signs and posted signage at a house across from Town Hall, a cracked sidewalk on Main Street, and grease on the sidewalk near Coffee Trappe. Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan said the Town will review the Zoning Ordinance and “look into regulating temporary signs and the number allowed on a property.” President Newnam said the town will inspect the cracked sidewalk and contact Mr. Mitchell to arrange cleaning of the grease in front of Coffee Trappe.
Mary Anne Windsor raised a separate complaint about dogs that bark persistently in a neighbor’s yard. She said she has called the Humane Society but “they cannot do anything unless the dogs are actively barking when they arrive.” Mrs. Windsor asked the council to consider Town action on barking and the number of dogs allowed on one property; the council did not adopt an immediate enforcement measure at the meeting.
