Trappe told scheduled sheriff patrols may be reduced after grant ends

Sgt. Aita presented the monthly police report and informed the council that the grant funding supporting scheduled Sheriff’s Department patrols in town has ended. “The grant funding has ended and they have not received a response from the new application,” Sgt. Aita said; as a result, Trappe should expect a reduction in scheduled patrol hours until funding is resolved.
Council members did not adopt a new funding plan during the meeting. The report was filed with the records for council review; the town will await a response on the grant application and determine patrol scheduling once further information is available.
