Contractor halts sewer liner installation after finding water intrusion; Council directs investigation
Summary
Livingston Septic located a sewer section allowing protruding water and cannot install the liner until the cause is fixed; the Council unanimously directed the contractor to coordinate with Superintendent Shawn Lane to find an alternate liner location and investigate and repair the source of intrusion.
Chris Brown of Livingston Septic told the Council that crews discovered a sewer section allowing a large amount of protruding water, preventing the scheduled liner installation there. Brown offered to use the liner planned for that location at another site in Town at no additional charge and to honor the same per-linear-foot contract price.
After discussion, Commissioner Rose Potter moved that Brown coordinate with Superintendent Shawn Lane to locate a new site for the liner and to investigate and fix the cause of the water intrusion. Commissioner Walter Chase seconded the motion and the Council unanimously approved the directive.
Town staff will work with the contractor to identify the alternative location, investigate the infiltration source, and return to Council if the schedule or costs change.
