Developer agrees to adjust planting plan after resident screening concerns at Lakeside

During the Sept. 3 meeting a resident complaint about screening between the Lakeside development and Piney Hill Road backyards was presented to the council. James Cook, speaking for Lakeside, provided documentation and said the proposed trees would be planted when the first house is under construction; he proposed moving the trees from the north side of the swale to the south side so they are closer to Piney Hill residents.
President Newnam recommended supplementing the proposed trees with shrubbery and native grasses to provide faster and denser screening. Cook said he would work with Richard Allison from the Planning Commission to select appropriate trees and consider the additional plantings. The council indicated it was satisfied with the developer’s response and authorized Lakeside to proceed with the revised plan.
