The Board of Education of J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 recognized student achievements across multiple programs at its May 14 meeting.
President Jeffry Pesek and board members honored student board members Zoe Bustamante of Morton East and Abbie Valladares-Stevenson of Morton West, and acknowledged groups including engineering students (Alan Venegas, Alessandro Rodriguez and others), culinary students (Camila Diaz, Monserrat Lopez Hernandez, Nadia Perez), Illinois History Day participants, Those Who Excel awardees, Morton Teaches participants, E-Sports competitors and Mathletes. Staff sponsors named in the minutes included Mark Stoch, Jessica Herrera, Courtney Bay, Jennie Crownson and Kent Frankfother among others.
The recognition items were presented as part of the open-session agenda and required no board vote. The board meeting record notes the recognitions immediately after reconvening from closed session and before administrative reports.
