Director of Building and Zoning Jeff Soer reported the Planning & Zoning Board recommended approval of a petition by Corey McMahan to amend zoning for 1600 S. State St. Suite B to B-3 with special use for alcohol to operate a restaurant. Soer said there were no objections from adjacent property owners and owners hope to open around the first part of August. Commissioner John Miles moved approval; Commissioner Zachary Crawford seconded, and the roll-call vote was unanimous.
The approval allows the applicant to proceed with required licensing and any additional permitting tied to alcohol service and restaurant occupancy. The transcript does not record precise opening-date commitments beyond the owners' expectation of early August.
