Lyons-Decatur board approves package of student- and family-facing policies, 9-0

The motion to approve the policies (5001 - Attendance and Excessive Absenteeism; 5018 - Parental Involvement Policy; 5045 - Student Fee Policy; 5052 - Wellness; 5054 - Bullying; 5057 - Title I Parental Involvement Policy) was made by Evan Myers and seconded by Leah Miller and passed on a 9-0 roll call. The minutes record the aye votes as Archer, Bacon, Brehmer, Christiansen, Miller, Myers, Petersen, Troutman and Vlach.
The approvals followed short hearings earlier in the meeting on the student fees policy and the parental involvement policy; the written minutes record that discussion occurred but do not include substantive amendments or dollar figures in the text. The board did not record any amendments to the policies in the motion that adopted them "as presented."
The district will publish the updated policy numbers and full texts as adopted. The board's next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
