The Jerseyville City Council approved a motion authorizing staff to solicit confidential requests for proposals (RFPs) from companies to provide exclusive residential waste, garbage, trash and yard waste collection, disposal, and recycling services for the city. Commissioner John Miles moved the authorization and Commissioner Anthony Steckel seconded; the roll call vote was all aye and the motion carried.
Mayor Kevin Stork noted the topic has been discussed previously, particularly regarding recycling. The RFP process is intended to allow the city to evaluate options, including whether a new contract could deliver cost savings or improved recycling service for residents. No specific procurement timeline, estimated contract value, or proposed vendor names were discussed at the meeting.
