County board votes to pursue public discussion of Ashland Fire and Essentia proposals

Following presentations, impact statements and a closed-session review, the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors returned to open session and took formal action on EMS proposals. Supervisor Holte moved "to pursue and discuss with the public a County Board recommendation to consider both the Ashland Fire Department and Essentia Health proposals," a motion seconded by Olsen. The roll-call vote recorded Yes-10, No-2, Absent-1, and the motion carried, directing staff to continue public engagement and further evaluation of those two proposals.
Earlier, Supervisor Crandall moved and Supervisor Milanowski seconded to enter closed session at 4:52 p.m.; the board voted 13-0 to go into closed session and invited Meagan Quaderer, Dr. Jonathan Shultz and Dispatch Coordinator Ryan Matthews to attend. The board returned to open session at 6:09 p.m. on a motion by Pocernich, seconded by Ray (12-Yes; 0-No; 1-Absent).
