Avon schedules Arbor Day for Oct. 3; commission discusses high-school planting

Varga said he needs a purchase order from Mr. Presley to buy books through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).
Members discussed adding a High School tree-planting event connected to the Arbor Day initiative. Mary Berges suggested coordinating a planting the day before Arbor Day or on another date, but Mary Johnson urged avoiding a conflict with Homecoming—"I don't think that works to our advantage." Student member Collin O'Donnell described the school's tradition of inviting representatives from each class and asked whether his newly elected SAVE Club could participate; Chair Varga agreed to coordinate timing, and members suggested April, near National Arbor Day, would be optimal.
