Commissioners agree to petition partial annexation of airport road to give hospital city access

Daniels County commissioners unanimously approved a request on April 20 to allow the city to annex a 544-foot segment of Airport Road to provide a paved connection to a hospital site seeking annexation.
A county representative explained that the annexation is limited to the short segment needed to create a contiguous city limit to the hospital property; the hospital representatives said they would pay to pave the connection. The board approved the petition by voice vote and set a required public hearing for May 6 at 3:00 p.m. at City Hall.
Commissioners noted city maintenance and gas-tax responsibilities will change for the annexed segment and asked staff to prepare the formal paperwork and the required notices to nearby property owners.
