Council President Mary May and several councilmembers supported the idea of dedicating a middle-of-the-month meeting to routine business — reports, recognitions and consent items — while reserving the 1st and 3rd meetings for public hearings and heavier agenda items.
Council moved to waive the three-reading requirement under Idaho Code section 50-902 and then adopted the ordinance after a roll-call vote that recorded unanimous support. Mayor Pike said the change aims to make meeting schedules more manageable for staff and council and to reduce instances when the council must sit late into the evening because multiple public hearings stack on a single date.
