The Eagle City Council unanimously approved two proclamations at its April 28 meeting declaring May 2026 as ALS Awareness Month and designating Thursday, May 7, 2026, as the city’s observance of the National Day of Prayer. Council President Mary May read the ALS proclamation during the meeting and Mayor Brad Pike read the National Day of Prayer proclamation and closed by encouraging residents to participate.
The ALS proclamation highlighted the disease’s prognosis and the need for access to therapies and assistive technologies; the text noted the ALS Association’s research funding and urged community support for research and clinical trials. “I, Brad Pike, mayor of the city of Eagle, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2026 as ALS awareness month,” the proclamation text recorded by council said. Council moved, seconded and passed both proclamations without opposition.
Pastor Brad invited council members, staff and residents to a noon gathering at the City Hall flagpole on May 7 for worship and community prayer, which the mayor and council encouraged residents to attend.
