During the June 18 meeting, Pat Curran told the board the proposed wash plant would be set back approximately 500 feet from Route 37 but remain visible from the roadway. He said raw material would be stored in open stockpiles potentially up to 5,000 cubic yards and that finished product would also be stockpiled on site. The portable unit will operate on electric power supplied by a new underground three-phase line, the applicant said.
Minutes record that neighboring property owners present at the meeting indicated they were in favor of the project. The applicant said the plant is intended to sustain current employment and not create new jobs. The board approved the proposal unanimously; code enforcement and town departments will follow up on permit and site-control details, including lighting and any screening or operational conditions the board or staff may require.
