Owner Pat Curran presented the proposal to board members and described the plant as a portable aggregate wash system that would accept material pre-screened at other pits and separate it into three stone types and two sand types. According to the presentation, the system "will use 10,000–14,000 gallons of municipal water per day," and the water department confirmed adequate capacity. Curran told the board the plant would operate only in favorable weather and would be shut down during winter freezing conditions.
The board’s approval was recorded in the meeting minutes as: "move forward with the sand/stone wash plant located at SH 37, tax map #9.003-9-10.1, owned by Seaway Timber Harvesting, LLC as proposed." The minutes contain a later reference to the parcel with a slightly different tax map number (9.003-3-10.1), and the board minutes note the discrepancy; officials should consult town parcel records for the definitive tax map identification.
No new jobs were expected from the project, according to the applicant, and neighboring property owners who attended the meeting indicated support. The board adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
