Assembly rejects manager‑direction motions on bike‑path snow removal and fish box fee; approves Tidal Network support

The Assembly on April 13 declined two requests from Assembly Member Jeff Meucci that would have directed staff to pursue follow‑up actions. A motion to authorize the Borough Manager to work with the Alaska Department of Transportation to create a memorandum of understanding for winter snow removal of the bicycle and pedestrian path failed 0–6. Separately, a proposal to direct the manager to research implementing a $10 fish box fee similar to Sitka’s failed by a vote of 1–5 (yea: Meucci).
The Assembly did, however, unanimously approve a letter of support for Tidal Network’s request for an extension on its Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program award. The letter was approved by motion of Assembly Member Meucci and seconded by Assembly Member Valentine.
