At the May 18 meeting the Daniels County Board of Commissioners recorded the following formal actions: approval of the meeting agenda; approval of journals and general vouchers; payment of bills; approval of the treasurer's securities; authorization of John Brock with Interstate Energy Engineering to prepare and submit a Better Local Bridges grant application for the Square Bridge; approval of a representation letter/contract with Olson & Associates; adoption of annual performance-appraisal language in the county handbook with six-month probationary reviews for new hires; and approval of resolution 2026-12 to dispose of county property in connection with trading a county fire vehicle for a Suburban with the City of Scobee.
Several other items were informational or referred for follow-up, including a U.S. Geological Survey plan to install a stream gauge on the Poplar River, an FAA entitlement transfer of about $135,000 to Sheridan County (informational), and ongoing road and culvert prioritization work. The board directed staff to collect contractor certifications and insurance paperwork before proceeding with selected capital projects and to return cost estimates for the library restroom upgrade request.
