Library nominates new board member, seeks funding to upgrade restrooms

Arlene, speaking for the county library, told the board the library nominated Hailey Silberg to replace a departing trustee and said the library is expanding services with a "Library of Things" — items such as a telescope and event tables that patrons may check out. "We also have our tables that we use for Lehi club and special events…so this would be our library of things," she said.
Arlene said the library hired Stephanie McGowan as an employee who will start the week after next and previewed a summer program: Marshall Nelson will provide an age-appropriate gun-safety class for kindergarten through sixth grade with no live ammunition on site. She asked the commissioners to consider budgeting to "upgrade our bathrooms to handicap accessible" (grab bars, higher-height commodes and sink adjustments) and noted the library has not yet gathered firm cost estimates for the project. The board discussed certifying contractors and obtaining liability paperwork before work proceeds.
