Farmingdale outlines ground-tank repairs and seeks federal funding for new storage

Village water staff reported that a condition report from D & B found the 400,000-gallon ground storage tank structurally sound but requiring a new roof, and the village is developing specifications and cost estimates for roof replacement and longer-term replacement options. Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer Brian Harty, working with John Mirando and engineering firm D & B, will prepare specifications and an estimate for a new roof.
Trustees were told the village has grant commitments from Senator Schumer and Congressman Tom Suozzi for more than $1.0 million toward a new ground tank and that an application was submitted through Congressman Suozzi's office for $2 million to cover site work, piping and demolition of the existing tank once the new tank is operational. Operations staff also noted ongoing monthly sampling of wells and AOP/GAC systems and that Plant 2 wells will be in full operation for the pumping season.
