Council reviewed a staff-drafted addition to the municipal code that would create a formal procedure for street and alley vacations and allow staff to recover costs by charging fees. Planning-and-zoning representative Dreyer said the amendment would update local practice to match municipal peers and allow the village to charge a fee "that is equal to the cost incurred," including court fees associated with the vacation process.
The council acknowledged the change would place more of the process on the legal side and make applicants responsible for fees tied to the village's review and processing costs. A public hearing on the matter was scheduled for April 27, 2026.
