NOPEC rep outlines May opt-out period for Plain City aggregation

A NOPEC representative, introduced at the meeting as Mr. McDonald, told the council that NOPEC conducted four public hearings earlier in the day and fielded questions from residents about the proposed electricity and natural-gas aggregation programs. "We would be looking at a May opt out period," McDonald said, explaining that residents would receive letters during the first days of that window informing them they would be automatically enrolled and describing how to opt out.
McDonald said existing individual supply contracts would not be superseded; residents under a current contract could join the aggregation after their contract expires. He also said NOPEC would coordinate with village staff on additional community outreach events during the opt-out period to help residents ask questions and return opt-out forms if they prefer not to participate.
