Tampa Bay Water staff provided a technical update on reverse‑osmosis trench repairs at the Tampa Bay Desalination Plant, describing a phased program to remove, rebuild and re‑install racks, pressure vessels and membranes and to repair concrete trench supports. "This will produce up to 12,000,000 gallons per day of water" from the first three rebuilt racks, project staff said, and two additional racks are scheduled to add another 8 million gpd by year‑end.
The construction contract is a guaranteed maximum price of $15,600,000 with U.S. Water Services Corporation performing the work. Staff reported the concrete work is complete for the first three racks, stainless steel racks and high‑pressure piping are being installed, and necessary components such as pressure vessels and couplings are scheduled for imminent delivery. Board members asked about schedule risks; project staff said materials have been delayed at times but the contractor has recovered schedule and they remain confident in an early‑October startup for the initial capacity.
