The board approved a minor modification to an approximately 8.15‑acre recreational parcel in southern Brandon that clarifies where approved recreational uses may be sited and specifically allows a wave/surf pool as an identified permitted facility. Staff said the request provides more flexibility for recreational uses and removes buildings shown on earlier plans; staff recommended approval and the board voted 7–0.
Applicant representative Chris McNeal described the park's programming and the proposed surf pool. “The highlighted box ... is the main condition change which includes this to be a 3,000 square foot wave/surf pool,” he said. McNeal added the facility primarily serves service members, veterans and families but will be available to the broader community.
