Councilman Fernandez (S4) raised complaints he heard from seniors about unsafe sidewalk conditions and asked whether the city should consider a program to help property owners repair sidewalks. He said residents told him there had been prior assistance in the past that supported repairs for private-property sidewalks.
City Manager (S2) responded that he could compile information on what had been done previously, saying, "It was a grant program with funding and voting, on the part of the city council," and he offered to consult with staff (Ed) and return with details at the next meeting. Councilmembers agreed staff should investigate past programs and report back.
