Design Review Board approves Dovetail Condo material changes with conditions

The City of Eagle Design Review Board voted to approve a modification to the Dovetail Condo buildings' exterior materials and colors, with a site‑specific condition requiring revised elevations. The motion, moved by the presiding chair and seconded by a board member, carried on a voice vote after discussion of material palettes and application across buildings.

Board members pressed the applicant and staff on the visual effect of applying two contrasting palettes across a single plane. The chair said the board wanted the applicant to "apply the grayish stone across all buildings" so paired units (1 & 2; 7 & 8) would read as a cohesive building rather than two halves. Tony Thurber, the project's architect, said he was willing to revise the elevations and consider using the Glacier Bay (gray/charcoal) stone and wood accents to distinguish units. Barb Williams, planning staff, confirmed floor plans and landscaping remain unchanged and that the proposed final materials will be reviewed by staff and three board members prior to final sign‑off.

The motion directed staff to include site‑specific conditions 1–5 and added condition 6 requiring the applicant to revise color and material application per the board's discussion; the chair recorded that the revised elevations would be reviewed by staff and three of the board members present. The board did not reopen floor plans or landscaping as part of this approval.
