Board approves renewal of North Yards Solar siting after prior defeat

The DeWitt County Board voted to approve Siting #5 Solar-2026, a renewed siting application for North Yards Solar LLC, after Chairman Witte moved the item to the front of the agenda so the court reporter could leave early.
Chairman Witte moved the approval, seconded by Ferguson; Earle recused and left the room prior to the vote. Witte reminded the Board that on reconsideration "the Board can not hear new evidence and reminded the Board that counties no longer have the discretion to deny a compliant application." State's Attorney Markwell advised a simple majority was sufficient to carry the motion. Recorded votes were: Yay — Ferguson, Hammer, Prestegaard, Tilley, Witte, Farris; Nay — Ryan, Walters, Carter; Abstain — Werts. Motion carried.
