Board approves minutes, denies a majority of parole requests and grants several conditional releases

The Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles convened on Aug. 4, 2026, in Montgomery and approved the minutes from its July 30 meeting before taking up the daily parole and pardon docket. Chair Hal Nash, Board Members Gabrelle Simmons and Jennifer Conway and Board Secretary Nicole Lewis were recorded as present.
The board recorded numerous decisions across the docket. For example, the board "voted unanimously to deny parole" for Ronnie D. Harris, AIS# 188786, and set a reset date of 8/2029. The minutes also show unanimous denials and reset dates for many other parole requests and unanimous grants for several pardons with specified restrictions (relief from the habitual offender act and firearms disabilities in multiple entries).
Why it matters: these decisions determine eligibility or relief of civil and political rights for people on the docket and set conditional release requirements for those granted parole.
