The Menlo Park Housing Commission on Aug. 5 chose Chair Osterloh to represent the body at the City Council meeting on Aug. 25 for its annual report out. The motion to appoint the chair passed unanimously on a roll‑call vote of 7–0.
Management analyst Ariana Milton introduced the item and summarized three adopted work‑plan goals for 2025–26: (1) housing development to encourage affordable housing and review the below‑market‑rate policy; (2) community engagement focused on tenant rights and multilingual outreach; and (3) anti‑displacement work to review policies and better quantify causes and impacts of displacement. Milton noted Council policy guidance on presentation length: “the city council has asked that we keep presentations in only 3 to 5 minutes,” and staff offered to work with the presenter on final slides.
Commissioners discussed who would deliver the report and the likely contents — past accomplishments, progress on the adopted work plan and subcommittee activities. Commissioner Chapa moved to appoint Chair Osterloh; Vice Chair Sweitzer seconded, and the motion passed 7–0. Chair Osterloh will coordinate with staff on final content and timing for the Aug. 25 presentation to City Council.
