Police chief honored; two new officers sworn in Bay Village

Mayor Koomar reported Police Chief Rob Gillespie received the Theodore S. Jones Service Award from the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police in recognition of innovations in department operations and community engagement. Chief Gillespie credited his executive officer and command staff for their collaboration in department improvements.
Chief Gillespie also reported that two new police officers were administered the oath of office today: Gavin Dobbins, a recent graduate of Lorain Community College Police Academy, and Nicolas Nekic, who will begin the police academy at the end of this month. The chief said the department has been hiring strong candidates and expects continuity in operations going forward.
