State delays B Challenge to Aug. 19; portal training and navigator recruitment planned

Tara told the Broadband Hui that the B Challenge window has been postponed to August 19 to allow more testing and targeted training for the portal. "Again, it's no longer July 15. It is August 19," she said, adding that the extra time will allow staff to provide one-on-one office hours and portal demonstrations to community partners.
Constancio Jose (county staff) explained the outreach timeline: July will focus on teaching nonprofit organizations and individuals how to navigate the B Challenge portal, and the portal will open for challenge submissions in August. "From August 5 through the 19th, our goal is to go out there to the community anchor institutions and help people submit challenges," he said.
The Hui also discussed recruiting digital navigators—one per island to start—who will be part time and expected to help residents and anchor institutions use the portal and participate in challenge activities. Partners were asked to circulate job descriptions and links to navigator postings so counties can fill positions prior to the challenge window.
