State library readies digital work skills classes across 51 branches, likely starting in August

Stacy, representing the State Library's digital programming, told the Broadband Hui that library staff are finalizing schedules and outreach materials for the Digital Work Skills project and expect classes to begin in early August. "It looks like we're probably gonna end up starting in August because of the start up time to get advertisement out to the community," she said.
Stacy said library partners Kala Souza and Mapunavai are visiting libraries to build a statewide schedule and that bookmarks, flyers and other materials will be distributed to the Broadband Hui for broader publicity. The project will leverage the State Library's network of roughly 51 libraries to deliver basic digital-literacy services and is coordinating with Waipahu Adult School and other partners for complementary offerings.
The library team will share schedules and resource materials with the Hui and asked members to help publicize local classes when they are posted. Stacy urged partners to help spread the word so class attendance reflects local demand and to ensure the program serves underserved populations.
