Bert Lam, the State Digital Equity Coordinator at the Hawaii Broadband Digital Equity Office in DBEDT, opened the Broadband Hui and framed the group's role in tying libraries, counties and other partners together to advance digital equity. "My name is Bert Lam. I'm the State Digital Equity Coordinator here in the Hawaii Broadband Digital Equity Office in DBEDT," he said as he described the Hui's organizing metaphor and upcoming outreach.
Lam invited partners to use a shared calendar as a central place for events and telehealth activities, directing listeners to broadband.hawaii.gov/calendar. He said the calendar already includes PEG schedules, county-led bead/B Challenge events and other partner activities, and asked partners to add items so the statewide view reflects local work.
Lam said he will present a slide about the Hui at an upcoming conference he described as tentatively scheduled for July 16 and encouraged members to share events and resources to help demonstrate to federal funders that investments are producing measurable outcomes. The meeting closed with a reminder that Hui sessions are rebroadcast on PEG channels and that the next Hui meeting will convene on July 10.
