JB Ware (PAR Hawaii) described a Renewable Hydrotreater project to convert an existing fossil unit to produce renewable naphtha, diesel and sustainable aviation fuel at a capacity the presentation summarized as 1.4 million barrels per year. He said feedstocks would include soybean oil, camelina, used cooking oil and animal fats, and PAR is partnering with local firm Pono Pacific to trial local feedstock production on several islands.
Colleague Todd described a renewable combined heat-and-power project (∼33.9 MW) intended as a firm, dispatchable resource to complement wind and solar. PAR estimated the RHT conversion as a $90 million investment and expected the RHT to come online next year with the cogeneration project targeted for commercial operation in 2027. The company invited questions about feedstock sourcing and collection.
"Our feedstocks would include things like soybean oil, camelina oil, used cooking oil, beef tallow, or beef fats," JB Ware said during Q&A; he added that roughly 15% of feedstock could be sourced locally in an aspirational scenario, with imports expected to meet remaining demand.
