Chief budget officer Alva Dyan presented the district's 45-day budget update, saying the district's total revenue would rise by roughly $940,000 following the governor signing the state budget. Dyan broke the amount down into a $143,000 increase in unrestricted ongoing funds (largely tied to TK), about $740,000 in unrestricted one-time dollars and smaller restricted additions such as $50,000 for expanded learning opportunities.
Dyan warned that much of the added money is one-time and therefore cannot reliably pay ongoing personnel costs. "The big, of course, number there is the unrestricted one-time money, 740,000," Dyan said, adding the district will be careful about using one-time funds for recurring expenses. Trustees commended the clarity of the presentation and reiterated caution about relying on one-time funds to cover ongoing salary and benefit costs.
