AC Transit announces system realignment starting Aug. 10; city seeks follow‑up on school service

Maria Henderson, external affairs representative for AC Transit, told the council in public forum that after nearly two years of planning and public engagement the agency will implement a realigned bus network beginning Sunday, Aug. 10. "We are announcing the all new AC transit realigned bus network that will go into effect starting on Sunday, August 10," Henderson said, and described outreach including ambassadors at stops, updated signage at over 1,500 stops, advertising at BART stations and direct responses to a letter from the school board, superintendent, mayor and city manager regarding changes to Line 33 and the new Line 88.
Mayor Anderson and staff said the city had sent correspondence with the school district and school‑related partners and asked AC Transit to follow up directly with staff. Councilmembers and nearby residents focused questions on whether school‑service levels would be preserved and on how to distribute materials to students and families. Henderson said staff will respond to the city's and school district's letter and encouraged residents to consult AC Transit's realignment web page and on‑bus materials.
