Nancy, a parks staff member, told the commission that the Linda Beach tot‑lot replacement equipment has been ordered and described the final concept: removal of sand, installation of two colors of safety matting and a "creek"‑themed arrangement with a bridge, stepping stones, climbing structure, sensory wall, a slide and swings. "The equipment has been ordered," she said.
She explained the project sequence: demolition of the existing sand pit, installation of the equipment when it arrives (estimated 8–10 week lead time) and then final placement of matting. Staff said they coordinated outreach with the park and recreation commissions and will begin demolition as soon as the schedule allows so the construction window overlaps equipment delivery and reduces total closure time.
In a related update, staff described replacement of an earlier wood swing structure in the main park: the old post‑and‑beam structure had rot and was removed for safety. The replacement will add two new bucket swings, an ADA surface and an ADA route from Magnolia; that project is funded in FY 25‑26 and staff are working to expedite installation.
No formal vote was taken; staff said they will notify the public about closure timing and outreach for the installation.
