Secretary Sabrina Mounce told trustees that Shawn Anderson of Green Environmental advised the city that garbage collection fees will increase by 8.5% for the 2026–2027 year and that the contract allows an 8% fuel surcharge when diesel averages above $5.00. Anderson asked the board to delay imposing the surcharge and revisit the rate in October.
"Mr. Anderson stated that he would like for the trustees to revisit the fuel surcharge rate in October. He feels that the diesel rates will go down and does not feel right adding the 8% fuel surcharge at this time," Mounce reported. Trustees approved a motion by Trustee Judd Johns, seconded by Trustee Heather Green, to revisit the fuel-surcharge provision in October.
